Art in City Hall!

Art In City Hall, an initiative of the City’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, presents NOW! A collaborative group exhibition, NOW! features the work of 17 female and female-identifying artists members from the Women’s Caucus for Art – Philadelphia Chapter (WCA Philly)– a women artists advocacy group – and Women Holler! – a grass roots, Philadelphia-based support network for multi-racial female artists.

In the winter of 2018, Liz Krick, WCA Philadelphia Chapter President and Pauline Houston McCall, founder of Women Holler! began discussing how to bring their organizations together to expand the network and creative opportunities available for members of both groups. More importantly, the two organizations made a commitment to intersectionality through collaboration and dialogue. NOW! is the first manifestation of this collaboration.

NOW! represents a diverse range of ideas, modes of expression and methodologies from members from both groups, and as its title states, this is a demonstration of an urgent call for change through the power of female artistic agency. Using a blind jury, entries from Women Holler were selected by Natalie Merritt and Virginia Maksymowicz from the WCA Philly, while entries from the WCA Philly were selected by Pauline Houston McCall and Sheena Garcia of Women Holler!  Visit: http://creativephl.org/
