Artist Al Diaz is RUSH Art Philly Gallery's Artist of the week! I had the honor of visiting Mr. Diaz in his Brooklyn Studio and was blown away by the powerful statements in his art! I learned so much from him as he shared stories about his early creative work and close friendship with Jean Michel Basquiat. For those who have seen the movie "Basquiat" directed by painter Julian Schnabel (1996) you'll remember actor Jeffrey Wright in the title role. Benicio del Toro received the Independent Spirit Award as Best Supporting Actor for his composite performance of artist Al Diaz.
